Community Data Manager

Location: Bourke, NSW (hybrid working conditions considered)

Description: 

Maranguka is seeking a Community Data Manager to support community-led decision-making through culturally safe, ethical and community-controlled approaches to data, strengthening outcomes for children, families and the wider Bourke community.

About the Role

Maranguka’s work is driven by the priorities of the Bourke Tribal Council (BTC) and the Safe, Smart, Strong strategy. An important feature of our operating model is that staff work alongside a multi-disciplinary team across partner organisations, supporting young people and families to connect with the right supports, engage in schooling, and move towards positive pathways.

The Community Data Manager reports to the CEO and works closely with the Maranguka Backbone Team, hub staff from partner organisations, government and place-based service providers, and the Bourke Tribal Council. The role supports community decision-making by facilitating data and working groups, collecting and maintaining data, and turning information into meaningful data stories for community and governance audiences.

You will:

  • Facilitate Aboriginal community data and working groups, meetings and forums in culturally safe and inclusive ways
  • Support community members, Elders and priority groups to identify shared priorities and aspirations
  • Prepare and present quarterly data stories to community working groups to support collective decision-making
  • Collect and maintain relevant data in the Palimaa Interactive Platform upon receipt from partner agencies and organisations
  • Work with Seer Data to ensure external data is captured and used appropriately to inform analysis
  • Prepare data stories, reports and visual materials for internal, community, governance and external audiences
  • Provide monthly data stories to the CEO for the Bourke Tribal Council and quarterly data stories for the Maranguka Ltd Board
  • Develop quarterly data stories, case studies and impact reports for funders, donors and stakeholders
  • Uphold First Nations Data Sovereignty principles, including consent, cultural authority and accountability
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements

Working Groups Coordinator (Bourke Tribal Council and Maranguka Working Groups)

Position Type: Full-time (Fixed term 12 months)

Description: 

Maranguka is seeking a Working Groups Coordinator to provide high-level administrative and governance support to the Bourke Tribal Council and working groups, ensuring strong coordination, respectful engagement and effective follow-through on actions that support community-led decision-making.

About the Role

The Working Groups Co-ordinator supports the smooth operation of Council and working group meetings, accurate record-keeping, and timely follow-up of actions.

This role is central to supporting collaborative working groups focused on Indigenous data governance and community-led decision-making. You will work closely with Elders, community representatives, services and data analysts to ensure working group processes align with Indigenous data sovereignty principles and reflect community priorities.

You will:

  • Prepare and distribute agendas, papers and supporting documentation
  • Organise meeting logistics (venue, technology and catering if required)
  • Accurately record minutes, maintain attendance registers and keep records up to date
  • Track and update the action register, ensuring timely follow-up and accountability
  • Manage correspondence and maintain filing systems
  • Assist with scheduling and calendar management for Council members
  • Liaise with Council members, stakeholders and community representatives
  • Coordinate working group scheduling, agenda setting and note-taking
  • Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with First Nations stakeholders, ensuring culturally safe spaces for engagement
  • Facilitate clear and inclusive communication between community, project teams and technical experts
  • Support ethical handling, interpretation and sharing of data in line with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles
  • Assist in preparing community-informed reports, summaries and resources that reflect the voices of the working groups
  • Ensure clear and timely communication of decisions and updates

The Community Connector roles act as a trusted and visible community presence.

You will:

  • Walk alongside families from first contact through to outcomes, providing consistent, respectful support
  • Support families to connect with the right services at the right time
  • Advocate for the needs, safety and wellbeing of children and families in Bourke
  • Work closely with partner agencies to strengthen collaboration and service pathways
  • Support the implementation of the Improving Multi-disciplinary Response (IMR) Work Plan
  • Ensure program activities are co-designed, culturally safe and accessible
